Leaders Wanted

Where have all the leaders gone? One thing is for sure, maybe the last one we see for a long while is leaving Washington in January and heading back to Texas; who knows when the next will be along. I certainly don't see any emerging amongst the candidates running for office this year and it goes without saying there aren't any currently serving. My ideological side wishes all incumbents would loose this year insuring a fresh crop of reps come next year. The pragmatic side of me hopes the Republicans win because after all, they are still better than the Dems. Regardless of what happens, I don't see anything that gives me optimism for the near-future. Gas prices will stay sky high because noboday can agree on a fix, in all likelihood taxes will go up because neither McCain nor Obama are true supply-siders, and the war on terror will likely suffer because neither of these guys are balls-to-the-wall terror fighters like W. Almost by definition leaders do not exist in Congress because of the Washington group-think mentality.
